AFSCME Dues Structure Change
Please note per AFSCME:
Pursuant to the union constitution, AFSCME Council 31 is required to implement on July 1, 2026 a new dues structure.
This new structure will be based on a percentage of salary.
Union dues deductions will be 1.5% of employees’ base pay (excluding additional pay for overtime, shift differential, and other compensation that is added to base pay). There will, however, be a minimum deduction and a maximum deduction, so that no member will pay less than the minimum or more than the maximum.ÌýÌýThe minimum deduction is $16.54 per month, and the maximum deduction is $66.18.
The translated amounts for a BiWeekly pay frequency are:
- minimum deduction = $7.63
- maximum deduction = $30.54
Also, Clerical has a local dues contribution as follows:
- Full time (20 hr or more per week avg) - $0.12 per paycheck
- Part time 75% (19-13 hr per week avg) - $0.05 per paycheck
- Part time 50% (12 hr or less per week avg) - $0.29 per paycheck
Therefore, there will be union dues for AFSCME BSW and Clerical employees on EVERY paycheck.
BiWeekly 7/6/26-7/19/26 was the first full paycycle after the 7/1/26 effective date.
Note:Ìý Clerical local dues portion was not withheld and will need to be shored up on a future payroll.
AFSCME dues under the old structure were deducted in the 6/22/26-6/30/26 portion of the 6/22/26-7/5/26 paycycle.
